Program Overview:

The liberalization of economy has provided a strong thrust to the evolution of this industry. Newer formats, categories and players are emerging fast. A retail organization is not just about providing products or services but a unique and complete shopping experience. In the next three-four years, about 300 malls or 50 million sq. ft. of new retail space is expected to be developed across 55 cities in India, along with a large presence in the rural retail domain.

The organized retailing grew by about 25 percent in 2003 over the previous year. It is currently estimated at Rs. 22,500 crores. A joint report by McKinsey and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has pegged the Indian retail market at $180 billion. The market, according to the report, is growing at a steady rate of about 12 percent and accounts for about 10 percent of the country.

The Program in Retail Management combines disciplines of Business Management and super-specializes in Retail Management.
